Sponsors revealed for Celebratory Garden Party at Cambridgeshire County Day

Birketts and Anglian Water have been announced by the Organising Committee of Cambridgeshire County Day as sponsors of the Garden Party to be held on Thursday 23 June 2022 at the July Course, Newmarket, Cambridgeshire.

Cambridgeshire County Day, which will be open to every person and organisation from every part of the County, will showcase and celebrate the very best from across Cambridgeshire’s business, charity, community and public sectors.

The Garden Party, which is being hosted by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Mrs Julie Spence OBE QPM, will be by invitation only and will serve to thank individuals who have been the backbone of the County over many years. The Lord-Lieutenant has asked key organisations from across the County to nominate attendees, including volunteers, front line workers, and those who have gone the extra mile to contribute to the life of our County, particularly throughout the COVID pandemic.

Garden Party guests, who will be personally invited by The Lord-Lieutenant, will be representative of every aspect of life across the County, and will enjoy quintessential British hospitality in stylish surroundings. The celebration will be of Royal standard akin to that observed at Buckingham Palace, with tea, coffee, sandwiches and delicious cakes served. The Garden Party capacity, venue and catering are all made possible thanks to the support of sponsors Birketts and Anglian Water, whose generosity ensures those lucky enough to attend will enjoy the exceptional day out they really deserve.

Jonathan Agar, Chief Executive at Birketts, comments: “Birketts is delighted to sponsor the Cambridgeshire County Day Garden Party and to play its part in raising funds for two very important causes, the much-needed new Regional Children’s Hospital and the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund. Open to all communities, faiths and cultures, the County Day is not only a chance to connect young people with great opportunities but also an occasion to thank individuals who have made an important contribution to Cambridgeshire. We are proud to offer our continued support to the communities in which our colleagues live and work.”

Peter Simpson, CEO of Anglian Water, adds: “It’s a pleasure to be asked to support such a prestigious event for Cambridgeshire. As a business whose role is so closely integrated with every community we serve, we understand the importance of celebrating where we live and work, in all its glory and diversity. Our region has a tremendous amount to be proud of, and, as we emerge from a challenging few years, it’s a pleasure to be planning to come together to recognise that.”

Chairman of the Organising Committee, Chris Parkhouse, Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, says: “We are grateful for the generosity of Birketts and Anglian Water whose support enables us to hold the Garden Party and recognise the important contribution made by outstanding people across the County.”

Cambridgeshire County Day will highlight the best of Cambridgeshire organisations, while inspiring future generations with an unrivalled display of innovation, ambition, commitment and passion. Both schools and the general public from across Cambridgeshire are welcome to attend, and it is anticipated that over 6,000 people will be there on the day.
