Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy

The Local View takes your privacy very seriously and we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation. This policy outlines what personal data we collect or may be provided with by you and how we process it.

How we use your data

When you provide The Local View with your invoicing details such as Name, Address, Telephone Number and Email as part of or in the expectation of a service and transaction, we will store this information to enable us to provide you with the service(s). As an essential part of our service, we may also provide you with the option to receive marketing (our “communications”).  The communications are intended to inform customers of our products and services, promotions, offers, and news.

On the occasions that you opt-in to receive such communications from us, you may subsequently change your mind at any point thereafter and can unsubscribe from any marketing or other communications you wish. To change your preference please just email us: sara@thelocalview.co.uk. The communications themselves will also each contain a simple electronic means to unsubscribe (opt-out).

Storing and sharing your personal information

We will never disclose any of your personal information to anyone unless it is to fulfil our contract with you, or to send communications as outlined above, or unless we are required to do so by law.

Your personal information is stored to administer your account and the technologies we employ to perform this have been verified as part of our GDPR audit. Each system we use have their own GDPR policies in place. This is true of our accounting software ‘Xero’, our accountants and our email marketing provider which has servers within the EU and adheres to the GDPR.

Information sent between your browser and our website is encrypted using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer.)

Information required to provide our communications will be retained until 30 days after you opt-out from our communications. Information provided to us for forming a contract of sale or service with us will be retained for so long as is necessary to meet and satisfy our contractual and statutory obligations – generally 7 years from the time the information is provided.

The right of access

You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by emailing us: cheryl@thelocalview.co.uk.  We will provide this information to you electronically, free of charge, within one month as stipulated by the GDPR. For subsequent requests we may charge a reasonable fee to cover administration costs.

The right to rectification

If you wish us to update any record we may hold about you then please contact us on sara@thelocalview.co.uk. We will make the required changes within one month.

The right to erasure (The Right to be Forgotten)

You may wish us to remove all information held about you from our systems, you are entitled to do so and may request this by contacting us on sara@thelocalview.co.uk. We will respond to your request within one month subject of course to our own limited rights in GDPR to retain and process data to meet our own contractual and statutory obligations.

You may also unsubscribe (opt-out) from receiving our email communications at any time by using the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the footer of these newsletter emails.

The right to restrict processing

You may wish to ask us to store your information but not to contact you. If this is the case, you can request it by contacting us on sara@thelocalview.co.uk we will respond to your request within one month.

Your right to data portability

There may be an occasion where you require the data we hold about you to be ported to another supplier, this can be done via a CSV file if required, free of charge and will be provided without undue delay but within one month.

Your right to object

You have the right to object to your data being processed for legitimate interests including profiling, direct marketing or for purposes of scientific/historical research and statistics. Cookies

While we do not currently collect information such as your name, email address, telephone number and address via our website we do store this information as part of our records of transactions with you (our customers) in our accounts software.

We use session cookies to make our website work. There is no way to prevent these cookies being set other than to not use our site. Please note: session cookies are instantly removed from your computer as soon as you close your browser.

Third party functions

Like most websites we include functionality provided by third parties such as Facebook.

Our site includes the following which use cookies:

  • Social networking cookies
  • Links to Facebook, Twitter etc

The privacy implications for this will vary from social network to social network and will be dependent on the privacy settings you have chosen on these networks.

Visitor statistics cookies

We use Google Analytics to compile visitor statistics such as:

  • How many people visit our website
  • Different technologies visitors use (Mac or Windows) which tells us when our site isn’t working as it should
  • How long visitors browse our site

Analysing website statistics helps us continuously improve our website standards.

Turning cookies off

You can switch cookies off by adjusting your browser settings to stop them from accepting cookies. It is rare for someone to opt to do this as it can limit website functionality. Cookies, after all, simply enhance your experience of the internet.
